An empty neighborhood lot was transformed for one summer into a temporary public park of “follies” designed by various architects assigned to a writer, in this case, Fran Lebowitz. Reflecting her writing in an essay titled “Things” in The Fran Lebowitz Reader, the recycled wooden pallet structure protected the visitor from the surrounding invading nature while providing shade from the harsh natural light “that is so unflattering to the heavy smoker,” a comfortable chair and an ashtray floor. The folly was disassembled and found a new home in upstate NY.

Shelters within the parking areas were constructed for staff waiting for shuttles to the office campus. The shelters provide shade, light and protection from the elements depending on the time of day, weather and season. Fires are kept burning on days colder than fifty degrees, providing warmth and light for those waiting.
